Meadville, PA: May 9, 2008—UDC junior Maurisa Williams (Sicklerville, NJ) completed the 400 meter run in a record time of 55.86 today in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In winning the event, Williams broke the previous meet record of 58:41.

Fairfax, Virginia: May 3, 2008-- The UDC Women's Track Team held its own today at the George Mason University Open in Fairfax, Virginia. UDC highlights included Junior Maurissa Williams (Sicklerville, NJ), finishing 4th in the 400 meter dash. She is currently ranked 13th among NCAA Division II schools in the country i the 400 meter dash. Williams also finished in 6th place in the 200 meter dash.

Firebirds Fall to Rams 5-4 on Senior Day

Washington, DC: April 26, 2008--The Philadelphia University Rams defeated the UDC Firebirds 5-4 this afternoon in tennis action on the UDC Tennis Courts. This was the final match of the season for the Firebirds. It was also the culmination of the collegiate playing career of senior William Kellibrew. Coach Alexander presented Mr. Kellibrew with a gift and thanked him for his contributions to the tennis program.

Robin Williams to Receive Reslyn W. Henley Award

Washington, DC--- Robin Williams, the team captain of the University of the District of Columbia Lady Firebirds Basketball Team, was named the recipient of the Reslyn W. Henley Memorial Award on May 5, 2008. The Reslyn W. Henley Memorial Award is presented annually by the “M” Club, in memory of Reslyn W. Henley, a graduate of the District of Columbia Teachers College, a UDC predecessor school. The “M” Club started as an athletics support organization for the District of Columbia Teachers College, and continues to operate in support of athletics at the University of the District of Columbia.

UDC’S Sprint Medley Team Finishes Third in Heat at Penn Relays

12, 2008—The sprint medley team from the University of
the District of Columbia performed well at the Penn Relays in
Philadelphia over the weekend. The team finished third in their heat
ahead of Florida A& M and Coastal North Carolina after a great
leg from freshman Saleena Green (St. Catherine, Jamaica).

Philadelphia Lady Rams Sweep Lady Firebirds 9-0 on Senior Day

Washington, DC: April 26, 2008-- Senior Day for the University Lady Firebirds was not a happy occasion, as they were swept by the Lady Rams of Philadelphia University, 9-0, in tennis action on the UDC Tennis Courts today. On a happy note though was the celebration of the end of the collegiate playing career of senior Eniola Bakare ( Staten Island, NY) as she prepares to receive her bachelor's degree in Commencement ceremonies on May 10th. Coach Alexander presented her wih a gift and thanke her for her contributions to the tennis program. Bakare is a two sport student-athlete
