Bio
Khalfani Sullivan hails from Brooklyn, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at the George Washington University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, with a concentration in athletic training.
Upon graduation Khalfani accepted a position with Town Sports International, the umbrella corporation for Washington Sports Club. After becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer in 2006, he returned to Brooklyn, New York and took a position with the One on One Physical Therapy Chain. At One on One, Khalfani worked clinical hours during the day and covered athletic sporting events in the evenings and weekends at New York Public Schools and the City and State Universities of New York.
Khalfani also worked with the New York Police Department, eventually becoming the associate athletic trainer for the Department. He later accepted a position with the National Spine Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida, a spinal decompression clinic specializing in the state of the art treatment for herniated intervertebral disks. He also worked for ATC on Demand, a company which utilized a network of certified athletic trainers to cover many different sporting events for all age groups throughout the southern Florida area.
He joined the University of the District of Columbia Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as athletic trainer at the close of the fall sports seasons, 2009. Khalfani brings to UDC a unique blend of experience working on the high school, collegiate, professional and clinical levels, all of which gives him a major advantage in running a sports medicine program.
It is rare that clinicians have the opportunity to span and work in such a wide variety of settings in which athletic trainers are employed. With the acquired experience of different treatment techniques, administrative protocols and emergency procedures, he brings a quality of care to UDC student-athletes which will be visible in their attitudes and athletic performance.
