Washington,DC : February 29, 2009—Senior guard Kechan Myers(Philadelphia, PA) closed out his collegiate playing career with a game-high 28 point, five rebound performance in the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds’, 79-63, win over the Columbia Union Pioneers tonight at the Physical Activities Center. Myers and senior forward Rasheed Cole (Alexandria, VA), who scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, were honored in a pre-game ceremony that recognized their achievements on the court and in the classroom, as they played in their final home game for the Firebirds.

Murfreesboro, NC : February 21, 2009—Chris Kenon scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Chowan University Hawks to a, 85-77, victory over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds this afternoon at the Helms Center in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. The Firebirds actually outshot the Hawks from the field 50% (30-60) to 44% (26-59), but fouls took their toll as UDC was hit with 26 (including two technicals) while Chowan was charged with 19, giving them a free throw advantage as they shot 75% (24-32) at the charity stripe. Three Firebirds fouled out of the game.

William "Doc" Robinson, a fixture in Washington area basketball since the early 1970s, died Friday at Georgetown University Hospital, six weeks after suffering a massive stroke, his niece April Coleman said. He was 68.

Sophomore guard Tim Ellison led the Firebirds to the win scoring 18 points, and grabbing four rebounds.
