UDC Hands Davis & Elkins Second Defeat of Season, 72-61

Elkins, WV: January 6, 2006—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds defeated the Davis & Elkins Senators for the second time this season, 72-61, today in Elkins, WV. Junior guard Antwon Hawkins (Mitchellville, MD) paced the Firebirds with
23 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. This win raises UDC’s season record to 8-3.

Sophomore guard Brian Adams (Washington, DC) added 16 points and 5 rebounds, while
Junior guard Justin Walker (Teaneck, NJ) contributed 13 points.

UDC led 39 25 at the break, shooting 50 percent for the half. The Firebirds hit on 50 percent of their two pointers for the game and 92 percent of their free throws.

Jelani Jackson scored 23 points to lead the Senators, and Brett Rector and Alex Olson added 11 points, respectively, to the tally.

UDC will see their next action on Thursday, January 11, in the second game of a double-header against the Virginia Union Panthers in Richmond, Virginia.
