Bronx, NY: November 3, 2007—The Fordham University Rams handed the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds a, 64-54, defeat this afternoon in a pre-season exhibition game in the Bronx, New York. Playing with a sickened Willie Shaw, and other key players who were injured in an automobile accident on Wednesday night following their game at George Washington, the Firebirds were unable to use their patented offense to offset the Rams’ scoring power.
Four Fordham players were in double figures paced by Duston Bryant
with a double-double 24 points and 12 rebounds. Meanwhile,
the struggling Firebirds only managed to get two players in double
figures. Senior Frank Petersen led the Firebirds for the second
straight game with 14 points , 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Freshman
Tim Ellison added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
The Firebirds open their regular season at
home on November 16, at 5 p.m., against Chestnutt Hill
College.
