UDC's Herbert and Brittingham Earn ECC Weekly Honor Roll

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY  –  Senior Brandon Herbert of the men's basketball team and senior Lauren Brittingham of the women's basketball team both represented the University of the District of Columbia on this week's East Coast Conference Honor Roll.

Herbert (Baltimore, MD – McDonough HS) led the Firebirds to a convincing, 74-63 victory over Dominican last Friday with a game-high 25 points. He shot 8-of-16 from the field (50-percent), including 7-of-12 from long range (58.3-percent) while also registering four rebounds and one assist, block and steal. He was also a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

The 6-foot senior guard was named the ECC's player of the week earlier this season and ranks No. 1 in the league (24th in Division II) in free-throw percentage (90.9-percent) and No. 2 in the league (25th in Division II) in three-point field goals per-game (3.1).

Brittingham (Washington, DC – Potomac HS) provided the Firebirds a huge lift off the bench in their two Pioneer Classic games on Thursday and Friday. She averaged 16.0 ppg for the week, including a 22-point outburst in UDC's win over UMass-Lowell. She also registered six assists, five rebounds and five steals to help the Firebirds split tournament games.

A senior reserve guard, Brittingham averages 24.6 minutes per-game, ranks second on the team in scoring (12.2 ppg) and three-point field goals made (19), and leads the team in three-point field goal shooting percentage (42.2-percent).

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday night as the women host league foe Queens College at 5:30 followed by the men's non-conference tilt versus Washington Adventist at 7:30. Fans can follow the action via a live webcast using the "Video" link on udcfirebirds.com.
