Washington, DC-- University of the District of Columbia mens soccer player Jonathan Orlando is ranked 8th in goals scored among NCAA Division II schools at the end of the 2005 season. Orlando, a freshman business major at UDC is a 2005 graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, DC.

Men's Soccer Team Ends Trying Season
Washington, DC- The Firebird Mens Soccer Team completed a trying season at the end of October 2005, with a record of 7-9-0. Although the team failed to garner a spot in the NCAA championships, their passion on the field does plant a seed for their imminent return to the Playoffs in the future.

District of Columbia Hands Shippensburg 3-2 Loss at Home
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Oct. 12, 2005: Despite holding a 2-1 lead at halftime, the Shippensburg University men's soccer team could not hold off the University of the District of Columbia which scored two unassisted goals in the second half to edge out a 3-2 victory at David See Field on Wednesday.

HOLY FAMILY NIPS UDC IN OVERTIME
WASHINGTON, DC- OCTOBER 10, 2005: Holy Family University defeated the University of the District of Columbia (3-2) today in a hard fought contest in Washington. The Tigers of Holy Family took an early lead when Jim Latronica (So.) sweeper put the ball into goal unassisted in the 26th minute of the match.

UDC SHUTSOUT COLUMBIA UNION (12-0)
WASHINGTON, DC- OCTOBER 3, 2005: The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Soccer Team shutout the Columbia Union College Pioneers (12-0) today, at home. UDC capitalized on Columbia Unions undermanned team, which fielded only eight players, to literally run away with the match. This was the second time the Firebirds have beaten the Pioneers this season.

OAKDALE, NY- SEPTEMBER 24, 2005: The Dowling College Golden Lions defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds (5-0) today in Oakdale, New York. Dowlings first goal came at 39:55 in the game when Morten Jensen (Gr.) forward, scored unassisted on a cross from Thomas Vaaland (So.) defensive man.

Dobbs Ferry, NY-September 22, 2005: The Mercy College Flyers (3-2-1) defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds (3-6-0) in a soccer contest today in Dobbs Ferry, New York by the score of 2- 0. Mercys first goal was scored by Norton Carnegie (senior) defender at 47:20 into the match. Carnegie headed the ball into the goal on a cross assist from Mike Frimpong-Manso (freshman) forward.

UDC SOCCER TEAM DEFEATS BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE 4-1
September 17, 2005 - Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia Firebird Mens Soccer team defeated the Bloomfield College Deacons 4-1, today, in Washington. The Firebirds (3-5), tallied their third win of the season on four goals by different players.
