UDC Closes Out Soccer Season With, 3-1, Win over Chowan
Washington, DC: November 6, 2009-Playing an inspired game as they celebrated "Senior Day", the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Soccer Team closed out its 2009 season with a, 3-1, defeat of the Chowan University Hawks this afternoon at the UDC Soccer Field. Freshman forward Selvin Bermudez (Washington, DC) led the Firebirds to the win scoring two goals, one in the 8th minute with an assist from freshman defenseman Victor Saravia (Sterling, VA), and the other in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick.

UDC Sweeps Salem, 10-0, in Soccer
Sophomore defender Kevin Santos performed a hat trick, scoring three goals, to lead the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds to a,10-0, shutout of the Salem International University Tigers this afternoon at the UDC Sports Complex Soccer Field. Santos scored goals in the 37th and back to back goals in the 39th minute, with assists from senior forward Kendel Penny (Gasparillo, Trinidad) to help engineer the win.

Washington, DC: October 29, 2009—The Lock Haven University Eagles defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 3-0, in soccer this afternoon at the UDC Sports Complex Soccer Field. Sophomore striker Greg Shertzer (Erie, PA) led the Eagles with two goals for the win.

The 2009 Homecoming celebration by the University of the District of Columbia will feature a soccer match on Thursday, October 29, between the UDC Firebirds and the Lock Haven University Bald Eagles. The match begins at 2 p.m., on the UDC Soccer Field adjoining the Sports Complex.

Takoma Park, MD: October 20, 2009—Washington Adventist Mid-fielder Edward Kamarah, with assists from Kouame Kreme and See-Eun Park, kicked the ball into the goal in the 99th minute of overtime to edge the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 5-4, in soccer this afternoon in Takoma Park, Maryland

Washington, DC: October 13, 2009—Three different Millersville University Marauders scored this afternoon to defeat the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 3-0, at the UDC Soccer Field. Dan Prian (York,PA), a sophomore forward struck first with an assist from freshman mid-fielder Adam Keller (Lebanon, PA) in the 21st minute.

9/12/2009 Wilson, NC--- The Barton College Bulldogs escaped with a, 1-0, win over the Universityof the District of Columbia Firebirds tonight in Wilson, North Carolina. The winning goal came in the 50th minute when Lloyd O'Neil received a serve from Heinz Guttenberger and took a 26 yard shot into the left bottom of the net.

Washington, D.C.: September 8, 2009-- Despite the yeoman efforts of senior goal keeper Kareem Gray (Gasparillo, Trinidad), who made 12 saves during the University of the District of Columbia's soccer match against the Division I George Washington University Colonials, he could not hold off the Colonials as they topped the Firebirds, 7-1, in soccer action this afternoon at George Washington's Mt. Vernon Sports Complex in northwest Washington.
