Firebirds Efforts Fall Short , Shutout 5-0 by Marauders
Millersville, PA: October 19, 2010-- A sustained effort by the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men's Soccer Team against the Millersville University Marauders fell short tonight. The Marauders used an effective defense to fend off all Firebirds efforts to score and delivered a 5-0 shutout to the visitors in Millersville, Pennsylvania .
Sophomore forward Adriel Garcia (Physical Education-Centro Indaiatuba, Brazil) was the key player for the Firebirds, sending 4 shots towards the net, with 1 on goal, in a 90 minute effort. UDC goal keeper freshman Kyle Heatherington (Business-Collingwood, Ontario Canada) faced 26 shots, 14 on goal and made 9 saves to hold the loss to 5. Millersville goal keepers Matt Langione and Lucas Stacey faced 9 UDC shots, with 4 on goal.
Millersville goals were scored in the 6th minute (Aaron Roland) , 13th (Pat Baffuto), 46th (Roland), 49th (Andrew Dukes) and in the 61st minute by Kyle Loughlin. Millersville improved to 8-4-1, with this win, while UDC fell to 3-11-1 for the season.
UDC returns home for "Senior Day" on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 1p.m., against East Stroudsburg University.
