UDC Men's Tennis Team Scores ,7-0, Shutout of Chowan

Washington, DC: October 9, 2010-- University of the District of Columbia Men's Tennis doubles partners freshmen Carlos  Quiroga(Electrical Engineering-Valencia, Venezuela) and Miguel Uzcategui (Electrical Engineering-Valencia, Venezuela) led their Firebirds teammates to a, 7-0, shutout of the Chowan University Hawks, today, at the UDC Tennis Courts in Washington, DC. They defeated Bjorn Blythe and Scott Van Eck, 8-1.

Seniors Lalindra Jayatilleke (Electrical Engineering-Suva, Fiji Islands) and Bernard Karlon (Psychology-Scarborough, Trinidad) followed with a,  8-1, defeat of Lamar Williams and George Zeidan.

In singles play, sophomore Tomas Gajdusek (Finance-Prague, Czech Republic) defeated Blythe, 6-0,6-0 to start the rally. Quiroga defeated Eck. 6-0, 6-2, and Uzcategui followed with a 6-0, 6-0, win over Williams. Jayatilleke then defeated Zeidan, 6-3, 6-1, in the win for the Firebirds.
With this win, the Firebirds improved to 2-1 and concluded their fall season.
