UDC Cross-Country Teams to Compete In NCAA Southeast Regionals

James Kichwen (sophomore-Kapsabet, Kenya) and Stellah Sang ( sophomore-Kapsabet, Kenya) will anchor the University of the District of Columbia Mens & Womens Cross-Country teams in the NCAA Cross-Country Southeast Regionals on November 3, 2007, in Wingate, North Carolina. Each has placed first in several meets this year, and established course records.
Kichwen Places First at Hood Invitational

Frederick, MD: October 20, 2007Sophomore James Kichwen continued his winning pace today as he posted a 26:42.00 first place finish in the Hood College Invitational at Frederick, Maryland. Kichwen defeated a field of 80 runners in the 8K event, establishing a course record.
Kichwen Finishes 4th in Norfolk Invitational

Virginia Beach, VA: October 6, 2007 Firebird sophomore standout James Kichwen suffered a hip injury around the second mile of the Norfolk State University Invitational in Virginia Beach, Virginia today, but still managed to finish in 4th place among the MEAC and CIAA elite runners.
UDC Runners Break Course Records at VSU Series

Ettrick, VA: September 29, 2007Sophomore James Kichwen (Kapsabet, Kenya) broke the course record today while competing in the Virginia State University Series Meet, which was previously set by UDC sophomore Wilfred Chemallan last year. Kichwen finished in a record 25:51.00 minutes on the way to a first place finish in the Mens 8K Run.
Firebirds Finish 4th in UMES Lidlifter Meet

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.Merrecia James ran a blistering time of 18:53.83 to break a course record, held previously by her teammate Janeth Chelangat, to claim first place in the womens race of the 2007 University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Lid Lifter Invitational, leading her team to victory. Not to be outdone Hawk freshman Amon Kiprotich ran 26 seconds over the mens course record with a time of 25:26.26 and won the mens race and led the Hawks to a second place finish.
