BILLINGS, Mont.:May 26, 2009 – The University of District of Columbia had four players named to the 2008-09 All-ICAA Women’s Basketball team. Lillian McGill (Univ. of D.C.) and Amanda Milner (North Greenville) earned first team honors for the second time. The ICAA in basketball consists of Central State, Columbia Union, D.C., Flagler, Lake Erie College, North Greenville, Oakland City, Palm Beach Atlantic and Urbanna. The team was selected by ICAA Director Mike Bond.

Washington, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia is proud to announce that Lester L. Butler, Jr., head coach of the women’s basketball team, has been named 2009 National Coach of the Year for Division II (Women). Butler was chosen through a nationwide fan poll conducted by the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HRSN). Results were released this week.

California, PA: March 13, 2009—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women’s Basketball Team fought valiantly, but couldn’t find their range as they fell to the California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans, 73-55, tonight in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament at Hamer Hall in California, Pennsylvania. Senior guard LaQuanda Brandon (Washington, DC) led the UDC scoring in the loss with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Washington, DC: March 9, 2009---The No. 20th ranked University of the District of Columbia Women’s Basketball Team has been invited to the “Big Dance”. The NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee announced on Sunday night the field of 64 teams for the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship, and the UDC Firebird Women’s Basketball Team was among the 42 teams receiving an at-large bid.

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee announced today the field of 64 teams for the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship. Twenty-two conferences have been awarded automatic qualification. The committee selected the remaining 42 teams at-large. Eight regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be conducted at campus sites March 13, 14 and 16. The regional champions will advance to the NCAA Women’s Elite Eight March 24, 25 and 27 at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas. St. Mary’s University (Texas) and the San Antonio Sports will host the Elite Eight. The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women's Basketball Team was among the teams selected for a berth in the NCAA Atlantic Regionals, scheduled for March 13, 14 and 16 in California, Pennsylvania.
