UDC Lady Firebirds Rebound Nicely

Washington, DC: December 15, 2007-- The UDC Lady Firebirds started again.  After losing their last home contest to Virginia State University, the Lady Firebirds got back into the winning column.  They defeated the Mt. Olive Lady Trojans 79-70 to make their record 7-3. 

UDC was led by Lillian McGill, who posted her third straight double-double game.  She scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Devaughn Hailey added 12 points, while Robin Williams and Deyshia Williams each scored nine points. The Lady Firebirds shot 47% (31-66) from the field and 71% (15-21) from the free throw line. 

UDC actually started the game down 8-2 after Mt. Olive hit two early three pointers.  However, they fought back to take their first lead 13-11, with 15:32 left in the first half. The lead went back and forth for the majority of the first half.  With five minutes left, UDC started a run that stretched the lead to nine, 44-35, at halftime. 

The Lady Firebirds kept the lead the entire second half, making timely shots to end Mt. Olive runs.  The Lady Firebirds are now off until the New Year when they will hold their New Year’s Classic.
