Eric Zedalis Named Sports Information Director at the University of the District of Columbia
Washington, DC – The University of the District of Columbia Director of Athletics Patricia Thomas has announced the hiring of Eric Zedalis as the Sports Information Director, effective December 16, 2011.
Thomas had this to say about the hiring of Zedalis, "We are thrilled to have a person of Eric's caliber working as our Sports Information Director. He is intelligent, hard working, dedicated, and has a tremendous track record in the business. We know that Eric and Matt Rienzo (Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing and Communications) will work tirelessly to spread the message of UDC Athletics and help us reach our target audiences in the community and local sports media. The hiring of Eric Zedalis is another big step in the right direction for the University of the District of Columbia Athletics."
Zedalis will be responsible for the day-to-day communication efforts for the UDC Athletics Department. He will be the primary media contact for the Firebirds' 10 NCAA Division II sports, maintain the department's website (www.udcfirebirds.com) and coordinate game-day sports information operations.

Zedalis joins the University of the District of Columbia staff from Goldey-Beacom College where he held the same post since 2009. During his tenure as Goldey-Beacom's first full-time sports information director, Zedalis managed all operations while serving as the primary media contact for all 10 of the school's sports. He also coordinated the promotion for two Daktronics All-East Region award winners, 26 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honorees, four CoSIDA All-Academic selections, a CACC Coach of the Year, a CACC Student-Athlete of the Month, and a CACC Community Engagement Award. In addition to his sports information responsibilities, Zedalis also serves as the supervisor of the school's Academic Resource Center.
Prior to his time at GBC, Zedalis worked as a sports information intern at the University of Delaware. While at Delaware, he served as the primary media contact for six of the Blue Hens' Division I sports teams while also assisting with game-day duties for football and men's basketball.
A 2008 graduate of Marist College, Zedalis served two years as sports editor of the student newspaper, The Circle. He also interned in Marist's Sports Information Office. Zedalis is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
