UDC Women’s Tennis Takes Down Holy Family 8-1

Philadelphia, PA—The Women's Tennis Team competed Sunday against Holy Family University. The Firebirds used their momentum after winning the ECC Championship and won the match-up 8-1.

The women's team started off the day competing very well in doubles play. Junior Kristyna Nepivodova and Freshman Maxime Duijst came out on top against Maja Pantelic and Chelsea Brown by a score of 8-3. Freshman Sofia Leon teamed up with Junior Tadai Abilla to defeat Steicy Castro and Kaitlin Cook 8-1.

In singles competition the Firebirds dominated on the day. Sophomore Jessica Nunez defeated Holy Family's Jin Querubin by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Senior Maria Vitkina had a convincing win against Maja Pantelic by taking the victory 6-2, 6-0. Abilla also came out and performed very well and defeated Kaitlin Cook 6-0, 6-2.

The Firebirds return to the courts this Wednesday when they host Shepherd University at the UDC Tennis Facility at 3:00 PM.
