University of the District of Columbia Women’s Tennis Earns No. 3 Seed in NCAA East Regional Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team has earned a No. 3 seed in this year's NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Firebirds (15-3) will battle No. 6 seed Adelphi in the first round on Saturday, April 28th at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of host, Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.
The Firebirds, who are making the program's first appearance in the NCAA East Regional, defeated Adelphi (17-5), 5-4 on March 11th in Washington, DC. With a win, District of Columbia would advance to play the winner of the No. 2 Southern New Hampshire vs. No. 7 Chestnut Hill quarterfinal matchup.
The other quarterfinal matchup features No. 4 Concordia vs. No. 5 Stonehill. The match will be played at Stonehill, with the winner advancing to play top-seeded Queens.
