Hollis, Jones Among Several Firebirds Track & Field Athletes Ranked Regionally

NEW ORLEANS - Kaneesha Hollis and Callister Jones are ranked 19th and 27th in the nation, respectively in the 400M event, according to the latest USTFCCCA poll released today. The dynamic duo are No. 1 and 2 in the East Region as well, and they are among several Firebirds ranked in the top-10 regionally in their respective events.

Hollis (Centreville, MD - North Caroline Senior HS) ran a 55.74 and Jones (Fort Washington, MD - Oxon Hill HS) ran a 56.14, last week at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational - both personal bests. They will both look to improve on those times in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Hollis and Jones headline a 4x400M relay team ranked 3rd in the East Region with a time of 3:55.25. Other members of that team include Kimoy Mais (St. Andrew, Jamaica - St. Andrew HS) and Kaydian Jones (Kingston, Jamaica - St. Andrew HS). Also, the 4x100M team which includes Kaydian Jones, Atiya Amis (Washington, DC - Dunbar Senior HS), Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, MD - Polytechnic HS) and Shauna-Kay Creary (Kingston, Jamaica - St. Andrew HS) is ranked No. 1 in the East Region with a time of 48.30.

Other track event rankings of note include Kaydian Jones' 7th best 200M time of 25.77 and Tatyana Commock (Washington, DC - McKinley Tech HS) with a 7th best 100M time of 12.62.

In the field events, Areial Clark (Kenessaw, GA - North Cobb HS) is ranked 4th in the shot put with a toss of 13.13M and she is also 8th in the javelin with a throw of 33.56M. Creary is also 5th in the long-jump evemt with a season-best leap of 5.18M.

The Firebirds next compete at Morgan State's Legacy Meet on Saturday, April 21st.
