UDC Takes 2nd Match of Season from Elizabeth City

Elizabeth City, NC: October 31, 2006—Although this match was played on Halloween, the second time around against the UDC Lady Firebirds for the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University provided no magical portion to solve their problem of how to win the match. The Lady Firebirds continued their dominance of the Lady Vikings by defeating them, 3-1, this afternoon, in the second meeting of these teams for the 2006 season.

UDC won the match on scores of 30-28, 30-15, 29-31, and 30-26. Freshman Daniella Bezerra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the Lady Firebirds in the win with 21 kills, 58 offensive attacks, 4 service aces and 13 defensive digs. Freshman Ashonte Pryor (St Rose, LA) added 13 kills, 38 offensive attacks,1 service ace and 9 defensive digs. Junior setter Luisanna Sotelo (Las Vegas, NV) followed with 11 kills, 33 offensive attacks, 6 service aces and 7 defensive digs.

Tanika Hudgins led the Lady Vikings with 22 kills, 53 offensive attacks and 19 defensive digs. Eva Johnson followed with 14 kills, 39 offensive attacks 1 service ace and 11 defensive digs.

UDC’s record improved to 13-7 for the 2006 season. They will travel to Murfreesboro, North Carolina this evening to take on the Chowan College Lady Braves at 6 p.m., for their last match of the season.
