UDC Volleyball Player Daniella Bezerra Named to All-ICAA Team

Washington, DC:  December 14, 2006—Daniella Bezerra, a first year volleyball player for the University of the District of Columbia, has been named to the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association 2006 Volleyball ALL-ICAA Second Team. Bezerra is a freshman student from Sao, Paulo Brazil.

She was ranked 6th in aces per game among NCAA Division II Schools, with 51 aces and averaging .74 per game.  She is also ranked 11th in kills per game with 333 kills and an average of 4.83 per game.

China Jude, UDC’s Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, is extremely excited about the recognition that Bezerra received.  She said, “Daniella is a very passionate and hard working person who wants to be successful. She has grown athletically and academically, given the fact that she only very recently came to this country and had to learn the language.” Jude credits Daniella with helping to lead the volleyball program in the right direction.

Bezerra led the Lady Firebirds to a 14-7 season record, which was the best record for a UDC Volleyball team in years.
