UDC Women’s Volleyball Drops a Heartbreaker to Molloy, Losing in Three sets by a Total of Eight Points
Rockville Center, NY – The UDC Women's Volleyball Team did everything it could tonight, but they came up short against East Coast Conference (ECC) foe Molloy. The Firebirds lost the match by a total of eight points over three game, and the first and second games went into extra points. The Firebirds fall to 9-15 overall, 1-6 in the ECC. The Lions advance to 7-13 on the season, 4-4 in the ECC.
The first game was tight to the end, but the Lions pulled out the victory 26-24. The second game was more of the same as both teams battled back and forth. Molloy again prevailed in extra points winning 27-25. Molloy then finished off UDC in the third set, winning 25-21.
Impressive performances were turned in by junior outside hitter/ middle back Vanessa Garley (Rio Rancho, NM - Rio Rancho HS) who had 17 kills on the day, junior libero Grace Perilli (Lewisburg, WV – Independence HS) who had 20 digs, freshman setter Kamene Rose (Chula Vista, CA – Hilltop HS) who had 27 assists, and senior setter/ outside hitter Grace DeMichelis ( Aurora, CO – Overland HS ) who had 10 kills and 2 serve aces.
The Firebirds return to action tomorrow in Long Island, NY at CW Post at 2:00 pm.
