District of Columbia Women’s Volleyball Falls to ECC Foe Bridgeport University in Three Sets in Final Road Game of the Season
Bridgeport, CT – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Volleyball Team fell to Bridgeport University in three sets tonight in their final road game of the season. The match was well contested by the Firebirds, but the Knights continued their impressive season winning 25-18, 25-23, 27-25. With the loss, the Firebirds drop to 11-20 on the year and 2-10 in the East Coast Conference (ECC) while the Purple Knights currently sit at 17-4 and 10-2 in the ECC.
The Firebirds got solid performances from Junior outside hitter/ middle back Vanessa Garley (Rio Rancho, NM – Rio Rancho HS) with 13 kill and 7 digs, senior middle hitter/ outside hitter Mirella Nunes (Sao' Paulo, Brazil - Colegio Augusto Laranja) with 10 kills and 4 serve aces, and Freshman Kamene Rose (Chula Vista, CA – Hilltop HS) 30 assists, 4 serve aces, and 5 digs.
The Firebirds finish off the season at home with two consecutive home games against ECC opponents. They take on Dowling College on Friday, November 4th at 7:00 pm and Mercy College on Saturday, November 5th at 2:00 pm.
