Wilfred Chamellan Outpaces All Others to Win Bowie State Homecoming Classic

BOWIE, MD: October 13, 2006—University of the District of Columbia sophomore Wilfred Chamellan (Kenya) continued his winning ways  by out distancing all other runners to capture 1st place in the Bowie State Homecoming Classic, today, in Bowie, Maryland. Chamellan finished the course in 25:50 minutes. It was his third win of the season, after capturing 1st place in the Virginia State Series #1, and the Bowie State Invitational earlier. His victory enabled UDC to win the overall Meet with 28 points. Bowie State finished in 2nd place, and Columbia Union College came in 3rd place.

UDC sophomore Josephat Birch (Kenya) finished in 3rd place with a time of 29:41 minutes. Sophomore Aziakonou Ewonou (Togo) came in 5th, and junior Julius Oben
(Washington, DC) finished in 8th place. Sophomore Jeffrey Zulu finished in 11th place.

The Firebirds next competition will be against Hood College in Frederick, Maryland on October 21, 2006.
