Hillary Mugun is Men's Cross-Country Top Athletics Awards Recipient
Washington, DC: April 10, 2011-- Sophomore runner Hillary Mugun (Accounting- Nandi Hills, Kenya) won the top University of the District of Columbia Men's Cross-Country Team award Sunday, April 10 at the Annual Athletics Department Awards Banquet at Maggiano's in Washington. Mugun was named the team's Most Valuable Player by Head Men's & Women's Cross-Country/Track Coach Alton McKenzie.
"Hillary won 5 consecutive Cross Country Races during the 2010-2011 season (several competing against Division 1 opponents) and that dominance made the decision easy in naming him the MVP for Men's Cross Country," said Coach McKenzie. "With UDC now being in the ECC for Men's Cross Country in the upcoming season, we're looking for the team to be competitive in the Cross Country Team Championship, with Hillary leading the way and challenging for an individual title."
Mugun is among the country's top collegiate cross-country runners. He transferred to UDC from Indiana University of Pennsylvania after becoming the school's first men's cross-country All-American in nearly 20 years.
