UDC VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINNER OVER LINCOLN UNIVERSITY

Lincoln, PA-September 20, 2005: The University of the District of Columbia “Lady Firebirds” Volleyball Team overcame a persistent Lincoln University “Lady Lion” team to win by the score of (3-1) tonight in Lincoln, Pennsylvania. The Lady Firebirds won game one of the match (30-27), and then fell to the Lady Lions (21-30) in game two. UDC won the third game (30-26), and went on to win the deciding game (30-24).

UDC overcame a disparity in numbers, playing with only 6, against Lincoln’s 19 players. One of UDC’s key players, April Shepherd, did not play due to an injury. UDC tallied 48 kills and 26 service aces in the win. Outside hitter Jana Hoerner (freshman) led the Lady Firebirds with 18 kills. Stephanie Leon (senior), also an outside hitter followed with 14 kills. Dahlia Pierre (junior), an outside hitter had 31 digs, in delivering the ball to Sindy Agudelo (junior) setter who set it up for the kills. The Lady Firebirds are now (2-4) for the season.
