Dorian Hurd II- A Celebration of Life

Dorian Hurd II- A Celebration of Life

Silver Spring, MD-A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for Dorian Hurd II, on March 31st, 7:00pm at the Northwest Branch Recreational Park. Dorian was a sophomore on the Men's Basketball team, with a very bright future ahead of him. Unfortunately, his life was cut way too short as a result of what could be described as a tragedy.

Dorian was a well loved member of our Firebird Community and his presence will be deeply missed. We ask that you continue to keep his family in your prayers.

On March 5, 2001, Dorian Michael Hurd II was born at 4:04 in the afternoon -- exactly one minute before his twin sister Camryn Michelle -- at Holy Cross Hospital. The sun smiled with wonder, and the daffodils danced in the breeze that whispered "life will never be the same."

A kind, affectionate, and illuminating young man, Dorian was loved by everyone in his wide circle of family and friends. His endearing smile and sense of humor were perpetual. A video game aficionado, Dorian also enjoyed the outdoors while camping, fishing and boating. A natural swimmer, Dorian had no fear diving under water as a toddler. Above it all, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.

In 2019, Dorian graduated from James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, MD, where he was the MVP of the boys basketball team that won the Montgomery County Public Schools 3/A Championship. Dorian was in his sophomore year at the University of the District of Columbia where he was studying digital media arts, with dreams of a career in music and film. He was also a member of the Firebirds men's basketball team where his dedication and geniality were infectious.

This beautiful life was tragically taken on March 18, 2021.

Dorian now smiles on us from heaven along with his grandfather William Hurd, grandmother Penny Faunteroy, great grandparents, and many other loved ones. Deeply cherishing his memory are his parents Tara and Joseph Faunteroy and Dorian Hurd (Yohanna), his siblings Sierra, Camryn, Joseph, Jalen, London, and Brandon; his grandparents Charlotte Hurd, Patricia Thomas, Kevin Brown, Dennis Prather, and Sheila Prather; devoted uncles and aunts Sean Prather (Danielle), Marcus Prather (Kristin), Alexis Prather, Monica Muten (Chris), William Hurd (Kim), Jason Faunteroy (Audra), Jean Moore, Sarah Awkard, Gladys Nelson, Seldon Higgins, Alvin Prather, Rick Prather; and a multitude of other relatives, teammates, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Snowden Funeral Home, 246 N. Washington Street, Rockville, MD, 20850. A vigil will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Northwest Branch Recreational Park on Norbeck Road in Silver Spring, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to please consider a gift to the University of the District of Columbia College of Arts and Sciences, Digital Media program –Donat Here.

May his story give us strength.
