Kasim Chandler Earns 2nd East Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Kasim Chandler earned his 2^nd East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season on Monday for his performance in the week ending February 14^th.

The junior transfer point guard led the Firebirds to three straight ECC victories last week – each of which saw UDC score 100 or more points. Chandler averaged 20.3 points, 7.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds per-game, shot 51.3 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from long range and 90.0 percent (18-of-20) at the free-throw line. He had a 3.8 assist-to-turnover ratio and registered three steals for the week.

The Firebirds, who have now won four straight games – including the program's first ever win over Bridgeport at Hubbell Gym – are now in 3^rd place in the ECC standings. They will visit Mercy College on Thursday night, and then return home to host league-leading St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday for the NCAA Division II Game of the Week broadcasted by American Sports Network.
