Firebirds Fall at D’Youville in Conference Road Matchup
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team dropped an 82–60 decision to D'Youville University on Sunday afternoon at the Saints Center Gym in East Coast Conference action.
UDC (1-12, 0-5 ECC) remained within striking distance early, trailing by just six at the half, 35–29, before D'Youville used a strong second half to pull away. The Saints outscored the Firebirds 47–31 over the final 20 minutes to secure the conference victory.
Rejuan Gray led the Firebirds with 15 points, knocking down 5-of-14 shots from the field while adding a rebound, an assist, a steal, and a block. Oliver Spence continued his strong play in the paint, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds, while also recording three blocks.
Off the bench, Arthur Roache provided a spark, scoring 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while grabbing eight rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Roache's energy helped keep UDC competitive during key stretches.
The Firebirds finished with 37 rebounds, including 14 offensive boards, creating second-chance opportunities throughout the contest. Defensively, UDC recorded five steals and five blocks, showing activity despite the outcome.
D'Youville shot 46.8 percent from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers, using balanced scoring and ball movement to maintain control in the second half.
The Firebirds return home on Wednesday for another East Coast Conference matchup, hosting Mercy University at the UDC Sports Complex.
