WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team dropped a 13–5 decision to Tiffin University Saturday morning in their 2026 home opener at the E.B. Henderson Sports Complex.
Tiffin came out strong in the opening quarter, scoring six unanswered goals to take an early lead and set the pace for the contest.
The Firebirds broke through early in the second quarter when Myles Henry found the back of the net to put UDC on the board. Joshua Copeland later added an unassisted goal as the Firebirds continued to battle throughout the first half.
UDC showed resilience in the second half, scoring three more times. Aiden O'Brien opened the third quarter scoring for the Firebirds before Amairus Sekajipo netted a goal off an assist from Copeland. Sekajipo later added his second goal of the day on a man-up opportunity in the fourth quarter with O'Brien recording the assist.
Sekajipo led UDC with two goals, while Henry, Copeland, and O'Brien each contributed one goal. Copeland and O'Brien also added assists in the effort.
Defensively, goalkeeper Israel Amajioyi turned in a strong performance with 20 saves while facing 33 shots on goal.
