Early Momentum Not Enough as Firebirds Fall to Roberts Wesleyan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team fell to Roberts Wesleyan, 24–6, in conference action on Saturday afternoon at the UDC Turf Field.

UDC came out strong to open the contest, jumping out to a 2–0 lead behind early goals from Amarius Sekajipo and Myles Henry. Despite the fast start, Roberts Wesleyan responded with a scoring run to take control of the game and carried a 13–5 advantage into halftime.

Sekajipo and Henry led the Firebirds offensively, each recording two goals and an assist, while Kelvin Pham and Nehemiah Humphries each added a goal.

Defensively, UDC goalkeeper Israel Amajioyi totaled 12 saves while facing 36 shots on goal. The Firebirds also saw contributions in possession play from Pham, who went 8-for-29 at the faceoff spot, and from multiple players who helped secure 13 ground balls as a team.

Roberts Wesleyan was paced by Nixon Karcz, who led all scorers with six goals, as the Redhawks maintained control throughout the second half to secure the win.

The Firebirds will hit the road next Saturday for a non-conference matchup at Virginia State, with faceoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m..
