UDC Tennis Players Sweep ECC Weekly Honors

Central Islip, NY: March 7, 2011- Two members of the UDC Firebirds Men's Tennis Team claimed top East Coast Conference (ECC) men's tennis weekly honors for the week of March 7, 2011. Freshman Miquel Uzcategui (Engineering-Valencia, Venezuela) was named the ECC "Player of the Week" and teammate Carlos Quiroga, also a freshmen Engineering major from Valencia, Venezuela was named the "Rookie of the Week".

 Uzcategui was a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles action this week, first defeating Post University's Markeese McLeod 6-0, 6-0 in singles, and then combining with Carlos Quiroga to defeat McLeod and Mike MacDonald 8-0 in a doubles match.

 Quiroga was undefeated in match competition this week; first beating Post University's Mike MacDonald 6-0, 6-0 in singles play, then with Miguel Uzcategui defeated Markeese McLeod and MacDonald 8-0 in doubles play.
