District of Columbia Pair Uzcategui and Quiroga Win Men’s B Doubles Final at ITA East Regional Championships
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Select members of the University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team were in action on the final day of the ITA East Regional Championships in Philadelphia. The Firebirds had a representative in Men's B Singles and Men's B Doubles play.
Junior Miguel Uzcategui (Electrical Engineering – Valencia, Venezuela/Colegio Sagrado Corazon) and junior Carlos Quiroga (Electrical Engineering – Valencia, Venezuela/Maria Montessori) advanced to the finals of the Men's B Doubles tournament with two wins yesterday. Uzcategui and Quiroga claimed the Doubles Championship this morning with a victory over Kevin Taylor and Anthony Moore of Chestnut Hill College by a score of 8-6.
Freshman Fabian Patrutescu (Timisoara, Romania/L.P.S. Banatul Timisoara) advanced in men's singles to play on the final day of the tournament. Patrutescu dropped a hard fought match in the Men's B Singles Semifinal, 8-6 to opponent Thijs Bik of American International College.
District of Columbia will be back in action against Chowan University on Saturday, October 13th at 10:00 a.m.
