Firebirds Blanked by Griffins, 9-0
PHILADELPHIA – In a battle of two regionally ranked men's tennis teams, No. 3 Chestnut Hill College shut out No. 6 University of the District of Columbia, 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins (5-4) swept all three doubles and all six singles matches to claim the resounding victory. UDC (2-6) forced extended play in three of the six singles matches, including at No. 1, 2, and 4.
Sophomore Rok Bozic won his first set 6-2, but was out-lasted 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 by Lucas Bocaletto at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Diego Pinto dropped his first set 6-3, bounced back to win the second set 6-3, but fell 6-2 in the tiebreaker. Sophomore Alexis Baguelin also battled Adam Gavin in a hotly contested No. 4 singles match, but was ultimately defeated 5-7, 6-0, 11-9.
UDC returns to action on Wednesday, March 30th to visit the No. 2 ranked team in the region and East Coast Conference foe, NYIT.
