Firebirds Put up a Tough Fight Against Millersville but Fall Short 5-2
MILLERSVILLE, PA- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team suffered a tough 5-2 loss in a fight to the end, against Millersville on Wednesday afternoon. The Firebirds fell to a 2-1 record on the season.
Forcing to default at No.3 doubles, UDC started doubles play down 0-1. Zicheng Zeng and Louis Mangeon then fell at No.1, giving Millersville the doubles point and the upper hand going into singles play.
Mangeon and Zeng went on to win both of their singles matches at No.1 and 2 to even out the score 2-2. After teaming up with Mauricio Corty to win their doubles match 7-5, Juan Estevez Hernandez would suffer a tough 6-7, 5-7 loss at No.3
Maksim Bahdanovich and Corty both fought through three games at No.4 and 5 but would eventually fall 2-6, 7-6, 1-6, and 4-6, 6-3, 4-6.
Next up the Firebirds will host Bloomsburg in their Fall season finale at the UDC Tennis Courts. The first match is slated to go off at 1:00 pm.
