Firebirds Soar Past the Huskies to a 5-1 Victory to Wrap Up the Fall Season
WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team wrapped up their fall season with a 5-1 win over Bloomsburg at the UDC Tennis Courts, Friday afternoon. The Firebirds improved to a 2-2 overall record.
UDC snatched up the doubles point with wins at No.1 and 2. Louis Mangeon and Zicheng Zeng teamed up to defeat their opponents 6-4 and Maksim Bahdanovich and Juan Estevez Hernandez teamed up for a 6-1 victory.
With the Firebirds down a man and the Huskies down two men, both teams lost out on the No. 6 singles point. UDC then got the upper hand with the default point at No. 5 to gain the 2-0 lead. Mangeon extended that lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 7-6(6) win at No. 2 followed by Zeng who secured the winning point with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 1.
Mauricio Corty brought home the final point for the Firebirds with a smooth 6-0, 6-2 victory to make the final score 5-1.
UDC is done for the Fall season but will gear up for the 2022 Spring season beginning in February.
