UDC Takes 2nd Place In VSU Classic Series #2

Petersburg, VA: September 14, 2006—The cool, rainy weather in Petersburg, Virginia today did not deter the UDC Firebirds Men’s Cross-Country Team from giving it their best as they finished in second place in the Virginia State University’s Cross-Country Classic Series #2. The Virginia State University Trojans won the overall event with an average of 31:58.80 minutes.

Although UDC finished in 2nd place overall, Firebird Wilfred Chemallan came in first in the 8k Run, finishing the course in 6:05.9 minutes. Virginia Union’s Jeffrey Langant finished 2nd with an average mile time of 6:06.6 minutes.   Virginia State’s Eugene Harrison finished in 3rd place with an average mile time of 6:28.6. Finishing in 5th place with an average mile time of 6:59.6 minutes was UDC’s Ewonou Aziakonow.

UDC’s next meet competition will be Friday, September 22, at Bowie State University Invitational. UDC’s overall season record is 1-1.
