RICHMOND, VA – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Basketball team dropped a road contest to Virginia Union, 71–46, on Wednesday evening inside Barco-Stevens Hall. The Firebirds now sit at 2–3 on the season.
UDC struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first half, posting just 15 points through the opening two quarters. Despite a stronger push after halftime, Virginia Union maintained control throughout.
Aiyana Ellis led the way for the Firebirds with 13 points, three rebounds, and a block, while Dashani Coleman contributed 12 points and three boards. Kristian Harris added eight points and a team-high five rebounds, and Calista Gaymon scored eight off the bench.
UDC finished the night shooting 32% from the floor, while Virginia Union recorded nearly 48% shooting and controlled the glass with a 45–24 rebounding advantage.
The Firebirds will look to regroup as they return home to continue non-conference action, against cross-town rival Bowie State.
