Graham Makes 23 Saves in Firebirds Loss to Virginia State

Washington, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team put up a strong fight but ultimately fell 16-5 to Virginia State on Saturday morning at the UDC Athletic Field. Despite a standout performance from Shannen Graham, the Firebirds couldn't overcome Virginia State's offensive pressure.

The Firebirds got on the board early thanks to Jada Williams converting a free-position shot in the opening quarter. However, Virginia State responded quickly, taking a 10-2 lead at halftime behind dominant scoring from Aniyah White and Nakiyah Jones.

UDC showed resilience in the third quarter, with Keliah Tucker and Williams each netting goals to narrow the gap. Bailey added a late goal in the final seconds of the third quarter, but Virginia State's defense shut down the Firebirds in the fourth, sealing the victory.
