Firebirds Fall to D’Youville in Conference Matchup
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to D'Youville University in East Coast Conference play.
The Firebirds found themselves trailing early after the Saints secured the doubles point, taking all three matches to open the contest.
In singles play, UDC battled across several tightly contested matches. At the No. 1 position, Polina Zelentsova pushed her opponent to three sets before falling 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Célia Bastin also forced a deciding third set at No. 2 singles but came up short, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
The Firebirds' lone point came from Nadja Zmukic at the No. 5 position, where she delivered a strong performance with a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
