Kaydian Jones Earns Third ECC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – For the third time this season senior Kaydian Jones of the University of the District of Columbia women's indoor track and field team was named the East Coast Conference Track Athlete of the Week.

Jones (Journalism – Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew HS) was selected for her outstanding performance at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason University this past Saturday. She has now won Track Athlete of the week two consecutive weeks.

Jones' day started with an impressive season debut in the 60M dash. Jones ran a personal best of 7.72s, finishing 3rd in the Section Two Final. She would also run an impressive 25.55s in the 200m to win Section Three and finish 5th overall amongst 68 competitors (and also the top Division II athlete). She capped her day by running the lead-off leg of the Firebirds' vaunted 4x400M relay team. She helped that team finish 2nd among 17 teams with a time of 3:56.57s, just short of the NCAA Provisional mark of 3:56.10.
