UDC Women’s Volleyball Falls to Goldey-Beacom College 3-1

Pike Creek, DE – The UDC Women's Volleyball Team Could not capitalize on an early 1-0 set advantage as Goldey-Beacom College came back to win three straight sets to defeat the Firebirds at the Joseph West Jones Center at Goldey-Beacom.

The Lightning (8-9) avenged an earlier 3-1 loss on the road this season to the Firebirds (8-12) by winning 26-28, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18. Tonight's win snapped a three-match losing streak in the series against UDC.

Goldey-Beacom held a .273 to .211 edge thanks to its outstanding precision in the third and fourth sets. The Lightning hit .353 (15 kills, three errors) in set three and .312 (15 kills, five errors) in set four to close out the match.

Junior middle hitter/ setter Grace DeMichelis (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho H.S.) led the Firebirds with double-figure kills as she recorded 16 and hit .407 for the night. Junior libero Grace Perilli (Thompson Station, TN – Independence H.S.) and junior outside hitter/ middle hitter Vanessa Garley (Rio Rancho, NM - Rio Rancho H.S.) added 13 and 12 kills, respectively.

The UDC Women's Volleyball team returns to action on Saturday at home at 2:00 pm versus NYIT.
