Balanced Effort Lifts Firebirds Past Elizabeth City State, 68–64

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team earned a 68–64 victory over Elizabeth City State on Sunday afternoon at home, using a balanced offensive attack and strong rebounding to secure the win.

UDC (5-8, 1-2 ECC) saw multiple players step up offensively, led by Dashani Coleman and Aliyah Eason, who each scored 15 points. Coleman added defensive pressure throughout the game, while Eason provided a spark off the bench, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc.

LeAsia Todd was dominant on the glass, recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring the Firebirds inside. Kristian Harris also finished in double figures with 12 points, as UDC placed four players in double-digit scoring. In addition to the scoring effort, Nhaikyia Smith delivered a strong all-around performance, posting six points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, while facilitating the offense and helping control the tempo.

The Firebirds trailed by one at halftime but responded in the second half, outscoring Elizabeth City State 30–26 over the final two quarters. UDC closed the game at the free-throw line, converting 21-of-30 attempts, and forced 19 turnovers, turning defensive stops into timely points.

The victory marked the Firebirds' final non-conference matchup of the season. UDC now turns its attention to East Coast Conference play, heading upstate New York for a two-game road swing. The Firebirds will face Daemen on Friday, followed by D'Youville on Sunday.
