MATCH DAY PREVIEW: MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS 10/9

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's and women's tennis teams will head to Pennsvlvania to play Jefferson in a doubleheader.

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Time: 2:00 PM

 

Scouting UDC Women's Tennis 

  • The Firebirds are 2-0, 0-0 ECC on the season.
  • UDC is fresh off a 7-0 victory over Millersville
  •  Simoné Pärn and Célia Bastin swept ECC weekly awards last week earning Player and Rookie of the Week. 
  • The Firebirds return 6 players from the 2021-22 season, including three First-Team All-Conference picks (Parn, Sofia Bellucco and Mariona Franco), and a Rookie of the Year (Valentina Brienza)
  • UDC Women's Tennis finished the 2021-22 season with a 15-3 overall record. They won the ECC Championship in the Fall of 2021 and was the second seed in the NCAA East Regional Tournament in the spring. 

 

Scouting Jefferson Women's Tennis

  • The Rams are 9-2, 4-2 CACC on the season 
  • They completed the 2021-22 season with a 10-9 overall record

History

The last time these two teams met was on April 6th, 2022, where the Firebirds defeated the Rams 7-0. The all-time record between these two teams dating back to 2008  is 5-1 with UDC winning the last five meetings.

  • UDC fell 2-5 to Millersville in their last game
  • The Firebirds return 3 players from the 2021-22 season, Seniors Louis Mangeon, Juan Estevez Hernandez and Mauricio Corty

 

Scouting Jefferson Men's Tennis

  • The Rams are 2-0, 0-0 CACC on the season 
  • They are fresh off a 7-0 victory over Millersville
  • Jefferson won the CACC Championship in the spring of 2022, finishing 14-5 on the season.

The last time these two teams met was on April 6th, 2022, where the Firebirds fell 0-7 to the Rams. The all-time record between these two teams dating back to 2008  is 4-6 with both teams splitting the last two match ups.
