UDC Athletics Announces Substantial Completion of $6.4 Million Turf Field Project

Washington, D.C. - The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is excited to announce the substantial completion of its state-of-the-art turf field project, a multi-purpose facility designed to support the men's soccer, women's lacrosse, and men's lacrosse programs. The $6,381,693.39, project is nearing its final stages after years of planning and construction.

Project Highlights:

· Project Awarded to Consys General Contracting of Washington, D.C. The actual turf was installed by FieldTurf, a world leader in artificial grass.

· Construction Start: After inspections by the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE), construction began on October 25, 2022.

The turf field is a significant investment in UDC's athletic infrastructure, offering a professional-level field to support student-athletes' training and competitions. The project also includes new state-of-the-art sound and light systems and a new scoreboard to take the player and fan experience to another level.

"This project is a significant milestone for the University," said Director of Athletics, Patricia Thomas.  "The state of the art facility enhances the student-athlete experience for not only our soccer and lacrosse programs, but provides a training venue for all of our teams.   In addition, the field will provide intramural and recreational opportunities for students, faculty and staff and enhances our community partnerships.  Our new turf field revitalizes operations and provides new ways to approach our efforts to support all stakeholders."

The facility will be a cornerstone for UDC Athletics, supporting training, matches, and other university events.
