Timothy Ellison Signs with UDC
Washington, DC—Edison High School (Springfield, VA) standout Timothy W. Ellison has signed a national letter- of -intent to play basketball for the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds this coming season. Ellison is a 6’5” swing man who can play several positions, including shooting guard, point guard and small forward. He received Edison’s Most Valuable Player Award following the 2006-07 season during which they compiled a record of 18-3, to win their first regular season district championship since 1970. Ellison scored 20 points in Edison’s win over Wakefield High to give them the 2007 National District Championship.
Ellison is a highly regarded player who is expected to play a major role in the Firebirds offense. Coming off a 20-9 season, the Firebirds expect to start him immediately as a shooting guard and offensive threat. UDC Athletic Director Harold M. Merritt said, “Timothy Ellison will be a great addition to our men’s basketball program. His ability to score will increase the odds of our being able to increase our season victories over last year’s twenty wins.”
Among the recognition he received while playing for Edison included being named Connection Newspapers’ Athlete of the Week (January 24, 2007), Most Outstanding Player of the Year (2007), National District 1st Team All- District Player, Northern Region Honorable Mention, and National District All-Defensive Team Player (2006). Ellison has also received All-Tournament recognition in several basketball tournaments.

15.7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game.
He is the son of Leon and Eunice Ellison of Alexandria,
Virginia.
