UDC Senior Guard Kechan Myers Finishes with Game-high 28 Points in Columbia Union Defeat
Washington,DC : February 29, 2009Senior guard Kechan Myers(Philadelphia, PA) closed out his collegiate playing career with a game-high 28 point, five rebound performance in the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 79-63, win over the Columbia Union Pioneers tonight at the Physical Activities Center. Myers and senior forward Rasheed Cole (Alexandria, VA), who scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, were honored in a pre-game ceremony that recognized their achievements on the court and in the classroom, as they played in their final home game for the Firebirds.

William "Doc" Robinson, a fixture in Washington area basketball since the early 1970s, died Friday at Georgetown University Hospital, six weeks after suffering a massive stroke, his niece April Coleman said. He was 68.

Philippi, WV: December 12, 2008After leading the entire first half, the Salem International Fighting Tigers fell to the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 59-57, today in Philippi, West Virginia during the Alderson-Broaddus Classic. The Firebirds went into the half time break trailing by two points, 31-29. The second half was a whole new game, as the Firebirds mounted a furious comeback, taking the lead from the Fighting Tigers when senior guard Kechan Myers (Philadelphia, PA) hit a 3-pointer, with an assist from freshman Justin Smith (Fayetteville, GA), to give UDC a 33-32 point lead, at 19:38 into the half.

Shaw Bears Edge UDC Firebirds 57-59
Washington, DC:December 6, 2008After trailing most of the game, the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds rallied in the second half and almost pulled out the win, but fell to the visiting Shaw University Bears, 59-57, at the Physical Activities Center this afternoon. Shaw held UDCs leading scorer, senior guard Kechan Myers (Philadelphia, PA) to 5 points, his lowest for the season, and limited junior guard David Burton (Philadelphia, PA), their second leading scorer to 13 points as they edged the Firebirds in spite of a game and career-high 24 point performance by sophomore guard Tim Ellison (Alexandria, VA).

Cheyney, PA: December 3, 2008Junior guard Tyrone Smith paced the Cheyney State University Wolves to a, 62-56, win over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, tonight, at Cope Hall. Smith, one of two Cheyney players in double figures, scored a game-high 25 points, while snatching 7 rebounds from the board to give the Wolves the home win. Senior forward Dominique Curry added an 11-point, 11 rebound double-double to the winning effort for the Wolves.

Washington, DC: November 30, 2008With 47 seconds remaining in the game, and the East Stroudsburg University Warriors leading the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 66-63, sophomore guard Tim Ellison (Alexandria, VA) hit a three-point shot to tie the score at 66 for the Firebirds. Then, following a Warrior foul, Firebird junior forward David Burton (Philadelphia, PA) made two free throws to win the game, 68-66, for the University of the District of Columbia at the Physical Activities Center this afternoon.

Washington, DC: November25, 2008Turnovers proved to be the achilles heel for the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds tonight as they fell, 68-63, to the NYACK College Warriors in the Physical Activities Center. The Firebirds made 20 critical turnovers in the loss, as the Warriors capitalized by converting them into 24 points.

Robert Harris led the Marauders with 24 points in 27 minutes of play.
