Washington, DC – The University of the District of Columbia Men's Basketball Team hosted John Burroughs Middle School on Friday, February 10th. As the middle school students arrived they toured UDC and were able to experience the historical campus. Then they observed the men's team practice and heard from Head Coach Jeff Ruland about the importance of academics and hard work. Afterwards the children got the chance to interact with the Firebird players and had an autograph session.
The University of the District of Columbia Athletic Department continues to be engaged in the community and give back to the local area. The UDC Men's Basketball Team is having an outstanding year with an 18-3 record. The Firebirds next home game is Saturday, February 11th as they take on East Coast Conference foe Dowling University. Saturday is also the "Think Pink" game where pink bracelets, tribute balls, and cupcakes will be sold to help raise money for various breast cancer research and awareness charities.
