Bio

Jasmine Rogers enters her second season as the head coach for the men’s and women’s cross country and women’s track and field teams. 

In her first season as head coach, the women’s outdoor track team earned Top 8 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region rankings in the 200m dash, 400m dash, high jump, triple jump, 4 x 100m relay and 4 x 400m relay under Rogers’ direction.  During the 2010 indoor season, Saleena Green finished the regular competitive season ranked 12th in the nation in the long jump with a leap of 5.76m. Athletic accomplishments aside, Rogers’ says her number one achievement of the 2009-2010 school year was the men’s and women’s programs finishing the year with a team GPA over 3.0. The men’s cross country team earned a 3.38 team GPA and the Women’s Program earned a 3.03 team GPA. 

Upon her hire, Patricia Thomas, director of athletics at the University made the announcement stating, “Jasmine will be extremely effective progressing into coaching from her outstanding career as a scholar-athlete. I am proud to have her join the Firebird family.” Rogers feels good about her prospects at the University saying, “I am excited to be at the University of the District of Columbia and look forward to continuing the program’s success.”

She comes to the University after an illustrious career as a student-athlete at Delaware State University in Dover, from which she graduated with Honors, with a Bachelor’s Degree in management with a concentration in marketing.  She also earned a Master’s Degree in sports administration from Delaware State in August 2009.  As a graduate student, Rogers served as a volunteer coach for the men’s & women’s track teams, and volunteer with the women’s volleyball team while working as the athletic marketing graduate assistant.

At Delaware State, Rogers was very active as a student athlete.  Rogers was Inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma) and was named the DSU College of Business Leadership Award recipient her senior year.   She was also very active within the athletic department, serving as an intern for the sports information department.  Ms. Rogers was an outstanding track & field athlete at Delaware State, specializing in the high hurdles.  In 2008, Rogers set the meet and stadium record at the Swarthmore Invitational in the 100 meter hurdles. Rogers was a six-time ECAC finalist in the 60 and 100m hurdle events. At Delaware State, Rogers was named to the MEAC All-Academic Team for cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

Prior to her time at Delaware State, Rogers spent two years at Manhattan College in New York City.  She was a two sport athlete, competing in volleyball and track & field. As a freshman, Rogers set conference records in the 100m, and 100m hurdles in route to becoming the 2005 MAAC Outdoor Track MVP.  Rogers was a member of the MAAC All-Academic Team for both volleyball and track & field.

An outstanding high school athlete, Rogers was the first girl in Quaker Valley High School history to win a state championship.  In route to winning gold in the 100m hurdles, Rogers broke the AA Girls PIAA State Championship record, and came back less than ten minutes later to win the 100m dash championship.  As a High School Senior, Rogers was named Allegheny Times Athlete of the Year and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette North Region Athlete of the Year.

 Rogers is a 2010 Graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy and received her USATF Level I coaching certification in 2010.
