Lady Firebirds Defeat Lady Panthers,72-52, in Season Opener

Richmond, VA: November 17, 2007-- Senior Ashley Alexander paced the University of the District of Columbia Lady Firebirds to a 72-52 win over the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University this afternoon in Richmond, Virginia. Alexander (Washington, DC) scored 16 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and made 5 steals in 26 minutes of play.
 
Junior Deyshia Williams (Camden, NJ) was the second highest scorer for UDC with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. They were the only two Lady Firebirds to score in double figures today. Katchona Johnson was the leading scorer for Virginia Union with 17 points.
 
UDC returns to action on Tuesday, November 20, against Cheyney State University in their season home opener.
