UDC RELEASES ITS 2009-10 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
Washington, DC:October 26, 2009—The University of the
District of Columbia, today, released its 2009-10 women’s
basketball schedule. The team tips-off its season on November 15,
in the Lincoln University Tournament in Lincoln, Pennsylvania.
Lester L. Butler, Jr., returns for his sixth season as head coach
of the Firebird Women’s Basketball Team. Butler took the team
to the first round of the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament
last year, finishing the season with a 24-4 record after being
ranked as high as 20th in the country among NCAA Division II
schools.
Butler says of the upcoming season, “"This is arguably one of
the toughest Division II schedules in the country. We have key
games against NCAA participants Millersville, IUP, Valdosta State,
and Tusculum College. This is the best home schedule we have put
together. It will be a challenge with a lot of new faces going
through it for the first time, but we are excited to play some
established DII programs this year."
The Firebirds Women’s Team opens their home season on
November 24, against the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson
Hawks in the UDC Sports Complex
